Discover the sights and sounds of Somerset by bike
With so many beautiful little villages, attractions and hidden treasures to discover in Somerset, perhaps the best way to make sure you don't miss a thing is to explore by bicycle.
Whatever your fitness level, Glastonbury and Somerset have plenty to suit your cycling abilities.
For a gentle cycling holiday, the Somerset Levels and Moors provide a beautiful, rustic landscape; criss-crossed with small dykes or 'rhynes' and dotted with picturesque villages and towns.
For those who like more of a challenge, there are the varied ranges of hills and forests of the Mendips.
For easy and safe cycle routes around Towns across Somerset, check out the Moving Forward website.
The Strawberry Line is easily accessible from Glastonbury and is a network of safe paths for walkers, cyclists, families and residents alike to enjoy, running along a converted old railway line from Clevedon to Cranmore.
Tried and tested circular route through The Avalon Marshes
Whether you bring your own bikes or hire ours, there are many quiet country lanes and off the main road routes to take right from our campsite.
We can provide our guests with easy to follow, detailed directions for a 20 mile circular trip (and others) through the nearby Avalon Marshes. This easy to moderate, mainly level route takes you through the gorgeous Westhay and Shapwick Nature Reserves, passes by The Peat Moor Centre, taking in refreshment stops at a traditional Somerset pub or the Sharpham Tea Garden.
The Avalon Marshes are a thriving wetland habitat, with abundant wildlife and rare insects - the perfect way to discover the true beauty of the Somerset landscape.
